Megyn Kelly, anchor at Fox News — our first line of defense when it comes to the ‘War on Christmas’ they also invented — will not stand for a Santa Claus that isn’t white.
It all began when writer Aisha Harris published a piece in Slate about how she felt growing up as an African American with a white Santa. She suggested Santa be a penguin so all children could relate to him.
On an episode of Fox News’ “The Kelly File,” Kelly address the kids at home (who as Jon Stewart deftly pointed out on The Daily Show, probably aren’t actually watching a 10 p.m. news program): “For all you kids watching at home, Santa just is white, but this person is just arguing that maybe we should also have a black Santa.”
Kelly compares this to those who would say that Jesus Christ was not white, saying that of course he’s white, despite numerous sources stating that Jesus would have been a Jewish man from the Middle East — probably not white.
Following all the controversy, Kelly eventually conceded that Jesus may not have been white, but claims her remarks were “tongue-in-cheek.”
