“His Greatest Battle Begins.” The Spider-Man reboot was first seen as a cynical reboot from Sony, but has now flourished into something worth watching, if you’re a fan of the comic book. “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” hopes to expand what was established in the first film, while trying to introduce new cinematic villains including Electro, The Rhino, and The Hobgoblin. “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” also hopes to follow in “Marvel’s The Avengers” footsteps with the introduction of The Sinister 6 to expand the Spider-Man Cinematic Universe.
Sony released a new poster (via HitFix) that hints to one of the sequel film’s villain’s Electro. The poster looks great, but I can’t help but feel it’s a re-tread of the banner poster Sony released for “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” a few weeks ago. Instead of Time Square, Spider-Man is squaring off against a simmering electric storm in Manhattan. Meanwhile, “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” should clean up nicely at the box office next summer, so look out for more promos and trailers from Sony in the near future.
Recently, Sony announced that there would be new Spider-Man movies coming out in the next decade. The new films will feature Spider-Man’s villains in leading roles, namely Venom and the Sinister Six. The sequel film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Chris Cooper, Chris Zylka, Denis Leary, Felicity Jones, and B.J. Novak.
“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” will hit theaters everywhere on May 2, 2014, in 3D and IMAX. What do you think of the new poster for “The Amazing Spider-Man 2?” Do you think we’ll get new ones featuring the sequel film’s other villains like The Rhino and The Hobgoblin?
