Actress Nazanin Boniadi got some good news this week—her character, CIA analyst Fara Sherazi will become a series regular on the Showtime drama, “Homeland.” Boniadi is currently appearing on “Scandal.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Homeland” dropped stars Damian Lewis, Morena Baccarin and Morgan Saylor from regular status at the end of last season.

Boniadi will reprise the role of Fara Sherazi during the fourth season of “Homeland,” produced by 20th Century Fox TV. Boniadi’s character debuted in the third season. CIA analyst Fara Sherazi is a strong, Muslim CIA analyst who is taken under Saul’s (Mandy Patinkin) wing while Carrie (Claire Danes) was working outside of the agency. This new season finds Fara in an important role, working for Carrie at the CIA.

THR reports that showrunner Alex Gansa was very optimistic about Boniadi’s future on “Homeland” when he spoke with magazine in December. He said, “These are characters (Boniadi and Tracy Letts’ characters) we got to explore and enrich and see whether or not the show can withstand Brody’s absence. I think they raised their game and made the show vital without that central character onstage.”

Boniadi is coming off of an exciting eight-episode arc on ABC’s “Scandal,” and she recently reprised her role on “How I Met Your Mother” for the series’ final season. She can currently be seen in “Shirin in Love.”
