Dermot Mulroney is set to enter The Further as he has been cast in the upcoming horror film, ‘Insidious: Chapter 3.’ Scribe Leigh Whannell, who’s returning to the hit franchise after writing the first two installments, made the announcement on his Twitter page. The filmmaker made the announcment after confirming he’ll take over the directorial duties with the series’ second sequel.
There’s no word yet on who Mulroney, who was most recently seen in ‘August: Osage County’ and ‘Jobs,’ will play in, and how he will fit into the story of, ‘Insidious: Chapter 3.’ But he will be joined by several actors who return from the first two films, including Whannell, Angus Sampson and Lin Shaye.
Jason Blum and his production company, Blumhouse Productions, which produced the first two hit movies in the franchise, 2011’s ‘Insidious’ and last year’s follow-up, ‘Insidious: Chapter 2,’ will also produce the next installment. Oren Peli and James Wan, who helmed the first two ‘Insidious’ films, will also produce the third film.
Focus Features, which acquired the rights to release ‘Insidious: Chapter 3’ from FilmDistrict, plans to bring the film to U.S. theaters on April 3, 2015. eOne will distribute the sequel in Canada, U.K. and Spain, while Sony will distribute the film in the rest of the world.
