True Detective is said to be eyeing Fast and Furious director Justin Lin to shepherd part of the second season. According to Den of Geek, Lin would direct two episodes written by True Detective creator and executive producer Nic Pizzolatto, who pens the series on his own. Pizzolatto is also said to be in the market for additional directors to help with the anthology’s sophomore season that will see a new duo in the two male leading roles. At the moment Friday night Lights’ Tyler Kitsch, Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell are all potential candidates.
Set to be in the running for the female lead role in the new season is Rachel McAdams. The Notebook star joins the ranks of contender Elizabeth Moss of Mad Men, who is also up for the role. The second season’s new addition is set to feature a female California sheriff, who has a gambling and alcohol addiction due to a troubled past. The plot will reportedly explore the savage murder of a corrupt California city manager who turns up dead before an important transportation deal takes place. Production is scheduled to kick off later this month.
