Director Jessica Cameron and screenwriter Jonathan Scott Higgins have once again partnered with their ‘Truth or Dare’ producer Mem Ferda for their next three films-‘Mania,’ ‘Desolation’ and ‘Kill the Production Assistant.’ Ferda, who’s also known for acting in such films as ‘Pusher’ and ‘Hyena,’ will serve as a producer on all three of his upcoming collaborations with Cameron and Higgins.
The first new project Cameron, Higgins and Ferda are working on together is the horror film ‘Mania.’ The movie marks Cameron’s second time helming a script Higgins wrote. ‘American Mary’ actress Tristan Risk has been cast in ‘Mania,’ as Brooke. Ellie Church, who’s known for appearing in the grindhouse movie, ‘Time to Kill,’ will portray Mel in ‘Mania.’ Brooke has been describe as Mel’s crazed lesbian lover.
The second horror film Cameron, Higgins and Ferda are working on together is ‘Desolation,’ which Ryan M. Andrews will direct from a script he wrote. Cameron will star as Heidi Richmond in the movie, and Risk has signed on to play the story’s villain, Lily. Higgins and Cameron will also serve as executive producers on the movie.
The three producers will chronicle the ambitious efforts they took on while making the two horror features together in ‘Kill the Production Assistant.’ The feature length documentary will film at the same time as ‘Mania’ and ‘Desolation.’
Principal photography on all three movies is set to begin on November 3, and they’ll be shooting the projects as they travel cross-country in an RV. The filmmakers held an online campaign on their website where fans could help decide which states they should film in. The top states include California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Ohio and Alabama. The map of the filming locations can be viewed on ‘Kill the Production Assistant’s official website.
Discussing his involvement in the project, Ferda said: “Storming on with many new exciting projects I will be producing. With Jessica Cameron and Jonathan Higgins as Executive Producers, we are set to be a force to be reckoned with, aiming to deliver exactly what modern horror audiences crave.”
Risk also revealed her thoughts about filming ‘Mania,’ saying: “As someone who self-identifies as queer, I’m also happy to have a story where the two protagonists are two women in love, and the struggles they try to overcome together. It’s a beautiful and dark story.”
