The first trailer for the comedy ‘A Merry Friggin Christmas’ starring the late Robin Williams and ‘The Soup’s Joel McHale has been released in time for the start of the holidays. In the Tristram Shapeero directed comedy, McHale plays a family man who is forced to spend the holidays with his dysfunctional relatives. After realizing he has left his son’s gifts at home, McHale’s character will take a last minute road trip with his own father (played by Williams) that is sure to be hell as they race against the clock.
In the brief first clip for the November 7th release, Williams is seen helping his grandson get ready for Santa Clause with bourbon and cookies! ‘A Merry Friggin Christmas’ was written by Phil Johnston (Wreck-It Ralph) and also stars ‘Parenthood’ and ‘Bad Santa’s Lauren Graham, Arrested Development’s Jeffrey Tambor, Murphy Brown’s Candice Bergen, X-Men’s Oliver Platt, Extant’s Pierce Gagnon, and more.
‘A Merry Friggin Christmas’ was one of the few projects left on Williams’ slate prior to the actor’s death in August. Williams was also attached to ‘Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb’ and ‘Absolutely Anything’.
