Filming will begin on the upcoming Rocky spin off movie ‘Creed’ this coming January. Shared by The Hollywood Reporter, Fruitvale Station’s Ryan Coogler will direct with Michael B. Jordan (Friday Night Lights) set to appear in the starring role of Apollo Creed’s grandson Adonis. Jordon is perfect for the role, as the up and coming star has proved his acting skills in the lead role of ‘Fruitvale Station’ and will also appear next as the Human Torch in the ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot.
Coogler also penned the feature’s screenplay with the help of Aaron Covington (Get Some, Found). Filming is scheduled to take place in both Las Vegas and Philadelphia. The installment will reportedly follow Creed as a young man who is determined to fight even if his family doesn’t approve. ‘Rocky’ star Sylvester Stallone will also appear in the film. He has been tapped to take on the role of Creed’s trainer. Stallone is also on board as a producer alongside Robert Chartoff, Kevin King Templeton and Irwin Winkler. Meanwhile, champion boxers Andre Ward and Tony Bellew, set to play Creed’s opponent, are currently in talks to join the spinoff.
