If you watched the midseason finale of “The Walking Dead,” no doubt you’re still reeling from the gut-wrenching turn of events that left the group without a member. If you haven’t seen the midseason finale yet and don’t want it spoiled for you, quit reading now.
Sadly, fans had to say goodbye to Beth, who sacrificed herself. But what about all of the build-up of her character before? It was seeming like Beth’s role was being beefed-up to make her an even more prominent character. But was all of that just so that when she died, her death would have more meaning? (Does that sound callous? Yes.)
Also, what’s going to happen to the other characters? Of course, since Beth and Daryl had a moment of friendship recently, Beth’s death is going to have a big effect on Daryl’s characterization and motivation. But also, Beth’s death should have a ripple effect with the other characters, who have been up on the chopping block as of late. The Hollywood Reporter reminds viewers that Beth is the third series regular to bite the bullet this season, with Bob and Gareth being the first two. Dare I pose the question of who could be next? It would seem the field is wide open.
