Universal Studios Hollywood is the home to many theme park rides, delicious foods and a bunch of fun activities for families around the world. Everybody knows about their annual Halloween Horror Nights, a permanent staple of the holiday festivities running through the park. Another event that happens every time around this year is their annual Grinchmas celebration. This is where families can go into the middle of slightly warm Los Angeles during the start of their “winter” to soak up some Christmas cheer.
Dr. Seuss’s The Grinch definitely is a cornerstone of Christmas stories, following around the furry green creature whose dastardly deed inevitably wises him up to the true meaning of this holiday. Well the meaning is alive and well as the wonderful warmth and love that’s associated with this time of year is running rampant inside Universal Studios.
ShockYa got a seat at the official 2014 Grinchmas tree lighting ceremony. The Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti said some sweet words about this time of year and just what kind of merriment should be in all of our hearts. It was difficult not to smile with all of the wonderful Christmas spirit that was floating around in the air of adults and children alike.
After the tree was all lit up, children had the opportunity to create their own ornaments, decorate their own cookies and even be part of an interactive time with Cindy Lou-Who. They could even make their way over to the Who-ville post office to send a letter of their good deeds. Each time somebody sends one letter to the Grinch, Random House Children’s Books will donate a book to kids in need on behalf of the sender.

Grinchmas at Universal Studios Hollywood is going on now to January 3rd, 2015.
