There are some Middle-Earth superfans out there, but there might not be a bigger superfan than Stephen Colbert. The Colbert Nation leader is not only a pseudo-but-real pundit, but he’s the biggest supporter of Middle-Earth and Tolkien fantasy there is. His legendary fandom captured the attention of Entertainment Weekly and he’s now the cover model for the magazine’s edition focusing on the upcoming film, “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies,” and the end of the Tolkien movieverse.

With the help of creative makeup artists, Colbert became Gandalf, Legolas and Bilbo. Of course, Colbert didn’t just wear the clothes, he became larger-than-life versions of the characters, what with Colbert-Legolas admiring himself in the mirror and pulling his best Zoolander, Colbert-Gandalf looking at “Harry Potter” and Tolkien books with vague confusion and judgement, and Colbert-Bilbo clicking his Hobbit heels at the excitement of an adventure.

The time-lapse video of Colbert getting into character can be seen at the link above. You’re sure to have a lot of fun with it, especially with how much Colbert loves this fantastical universe.
