Disney owned a lot of the 2014 box office, and the company is setting out to increase its movie-making dominance again in 2015. Variety reports that the company is planning on a huge slate of films for the new year – 12 films in all – including the much-anticipated “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and several Marvel movies.

Of course Marvel will once again seek to earn most of the comic book fan dollars with “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and “Ant-Man.” But Disney’s branching out of their superhero titles and getting back to other films and franchises that people love. For instance, DisneyNature’s upcoming film, “Monkey Kingdom,” is on the list for a 2015 release.

Disney is also releasing several live-action films, such as the live-action “Cinderella” film starring Lily James and Cate Blanchett and “The Jungle Book,” directed by Jon Favreau. “Tomorrowland,” starring George Clooney, will serve as Disney’s return to creating fantastical film franchises from Disney World and Disneyland rides and attractions (like “Pirates of the Caribbean”).

Even Pixar fans have something to rejoice come 2015. Pixar is getting back into creating original content (finally!) with “Inside Out” and “The Good Dinosaur.”

Disney’s slate is an encouraging one for Disney fans. It seems like Disney is getting better at diversifying their film portfolio, as it were, and are intent on giving fans more than just Marvel movies all the time. With their acquisitions of Marvel and Lucasfilm, Disney has truly upped its game as a company that appeals to the whole family.
