Jim Sturgess is starring in an entrancing, musical love letter to a man who decided to quit reality to live full?time in the Hollywood movie of his dreams in the new biographical crime film, ‘Electric Slide.’ In his portrayal of real-life bank robber, Eddie Dodson, the Vancouver Film Critics Circle Awards-nominated actor brings to life a seemingly elegant criminal, who is known for stealing from the most banks in history. To showcase the performer’s portrayal of the romantic outlaw seeking self?reinvention, Shockya has a new exclusive trailer from the action drama.
‘Electric Slide,’ which had its world premiere at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival, marks the feature film writing and directorial debuts of Tristan Patterson. The filmmaker forgoed crafting a straight-forward biopic about Dodson, and instead took aesthetic cues from the robber, as well as the unique moment he occupied in L.A.’s countercultural history. The result mimics a New Wave dream about the outlaw who also sought immortality in paradise.
The 1983-set ‘Electric Slide’ showcases the alluring Los Angeles lifestyle that’s full of beautiful girls, luxurious mansions and glamorous parties. Eddie, a hip and charismatic dealer of antique furniture for the rich and famous, is living the high life. When Eddie meets the cool and aloof Pauline (Isabelle Lucas), the attraction is instant and the two live out each other’s fast-paced fantasies until Eddie’s high-rolling life catches up with him and loan sharks start knocking on his door. To pay off his debts, Eddie and Pauline begin a spree of bank robberies across LA, charming tellers at over 60 banks to hand over the cash. Now the two are not only on the run from loan sharks but also have the police hot on their trail.
The new ‘Electric Slide’ trailer follows Eddie as he approaches a bank teller, and cunningly asks her if anyone has ever told her she looks like Jackie Bassett. The charismatic robber then admits that he knows his request is crazy, as he asks her to give him the money she has access to. Eddie than reveals he borrowed $100,000 from his friend, Tina (Patricia Arquette), and has already spent it all. He admits that he began robbing banks so that he could pay off his debts and continue living the exciting life that he’s used to, but becomes increasingly afraid when he can’t make the payments on time.
