Fans of kitchy ’80s films have united over this amazing music video for the upcoming ’80s-inspired action movie “Kung Fury.” The music video for the song “True Survivor” is sung by none other than one of the biggest stars of the ’80s and early ’90s, David Hasselhoff.
“The 80s was about fun, action, and heroes,” said Hasselhoff. “’Kung Fury’ has it all! I’m honored to be involved with [director] David Sandberg, an up-and-coming force of nature in the animation digital entertainment world. The song is perfect for me as I really am, in real life, a True Survivor.”
Sandberg left his job in the hopes of producing the best ’80s-inspired action film ever and if the music video and trailer are anything to go by, he’s surely met the mark. The trailer itself has reached 8.5 million views and caught the attention of 18,000 Kickstarters. The Kickstarter for this film was able to garner $630,000, more than surpassing the original goal and making “Kung Fury” the second biggest Kickstarter film of all time outside of the U.S.
The “True Survivor” music video is doing double duty of not only acting as a great promotional tool for the film, but also as a message of thanks to the many people who have invested in the film.
Check out the music video and trailer below and watch for the release of the “Kung Fury” soundtrack May 28. The film will premiere on YouTube. You can follow the film on its website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
