Amy Schumer fans are probably waiting with bated breath to see “Trainwreck,” a film that seems to be a culmination of Schumer’s comedic style and attitude. In keeping with her unapologetic outlook, Schumer is promising a “disappointing lap dance” for the winner of Universal Pictures’ “Trainwreck Premiere Experience” hosted by CrowdRise.
This particular lap dance will not only be something the winner can enjoy (even if it’s billed as “disappointing”). The event will benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society, an organization that means a lot to Schumer and her family. Schumer’s father was diagnosed with MS and seeing the disease up close had a huge affect on Schumer’s life. She has featured a storyline revolving around MS in “Trainwreck,” and the lap dance fundraiser will provide monetary support for finding a cure to the disease and offering help to those affected.
The contest began this week and will continue until July 6 at CrowdRise. A donation of $10 garners one netry for the grand prize; a $25 donation is three entries and a digital thank you from “Trainwreck” director Judd Apatow. A $50 donation garners seven entries and a digital thank you from Apatow as well as a Twitter shout-out from Schumer. Along with getting a lap dance, the winner will also be able to walk the red carpet at the “Trainwreck” premiere and take photos and have Bill Hader sprinkle your popcorn with truffle salt. The winner’s roundtrip to New York (including two nights and in a four-star hotel) will be completely paid for.
“Trainwreck” stars Schumer as a woman who has realizes that she’s gotten into a sexual rut and begins wondering if actual romance and monogamy aren’t as bad as she was told.
“Since she was a little girl, it¹s been drilled into Amy¹s (Schumer) head by her rascal of a dad (Colin Quinn) that monogamy isn¹t realistic. Now a magazine writer, Amy lives by that credo – enjoying what she feels is an uninhibited life free from stifling, boring romantic commitment – but in actuality, she¹s kind of in a rut. When she finds herself starting to fall for the subject of the new article she¹s writing, a charming and successful sports doctor named Aaron Conners (Bill Hader), Amy starts to wonder if other grown-ups, including this guy who really seems to like her, might be on to something.”
The film is written by Schumer and also stars Brie Larson, Tilda Swinton, John Cena and LeBron James. “Trainwreck” comes to theaters July 17.
