Finally being able to move past your broken past, and unlock your heart to the possibility of love and finally reconnecting with your family, can be a harrowing and daunting process. But actress Teyonah Parris is determined to do just that in Shockya’s exclusive clip from the new drama, ‘Where Children Play,’ which is now available on DVD and VOD from distributor RLJ Entertainment.
The clip, which is titled ’10 Years,’ features Parris and one of her co-stars, Macy Gray, contemplating how life’s complications has impacted their relationships. The scene features Parris’ character, Bellissima Mccain, who prefers to go by Bell, as she’s discussing her mother’s recent death with her aunt, Helen Harold, who’s played by Gray. After Helen surprisingly visits her niece where she works, she delivers the unexpected news that there was nothing that could have been done to save Bell’s mother. Helen also tells Bell that she’s expected to be at the funeral, which is scheduled for the following week. Helen then questions why Bell didn’t speak to her mother for the past 10 years, to which her niece tells her she had nothing to say, before she finally questions how her mother died.
‘Where Children Play’ was written and directed by African Movie Academy Award-winning filmmaker, Leila Djansi. Besides Parris and gray, the drama also stars Brian White and Leon Robinson. RLJ Entertainment has released the following synopsis for the drama:
Belle is a beautiful young woman who never found a bright future because she was too busy running away from a heartbreaking past. But news of her mother passing away brings Belle back home to her family and the painful memories she tried to leave behind. Only when she finds the strength to confront her family’s shameful history, does Belle learn that forgiveness has the power to heal the scars of a broken childhood and unlock her heart to the possibility of love.
