Spotlight Pictures has acquired the international sales rights for Aaron Eckhart‘s sports drama, ‘Courage.’ The film is based on an inspirational true story and the novel ‘Courage Beyond the Game: The Freddie Steinmark Story’ by Jim Dent. The film was written and directed by first-time feature film helmer, Angelo Pizzo, who also wrote and produced the iconic sports films ‘Hoosiers’ and ‘Rudy.’
Besides Eckhart, ‘Courage’ also stars Finn Wittrock, Robin Tunney and Sarah Bolger. The film was produced by Paul Schiff and executive produced by Bud Brigham. The drama received a wide U.S. theatrical release last November, under the title ‘My All American.’
Of acquiring the international rights for ‘Courage,’ Spotlight Pictures CEO Matt McCombs said “We are excited and enthusiastic to work with Bud and Paul on this remarkable motion picture. We are confident distributors worldwide will connect to the universal story of spirit and courage.”
‘Courage’ tells the inspirational true story of Freddie Steinmark (Wittrock). While playing sports at university, the small but scrappy athlete Freddie suffers an injury that leads to a shocking diagnosis. The young man must utilize his indomitable spirit and courage to rise to the challenge like a true champion.
