Women across America who strive to serve and protect their communities often find that they must first defend themselves in their training. They frequently must overcome their misunderstood existence and prove that they’re just as worthy at enforcing the law as their male counterparts. That struggle for women to gain equal opportunities in the law enforcement community is showcased in the new documentary, ‘Fallen.’ In support of the film’s upcoming release, Shockya is premiering an exclusive clip, which is titled ‘Proving Yourself.’

Gravitas Ventures is set to distribute ‘Fallen’ into select theaters and on VOD next Friday, September 8. The movie marks the feature film writing, directorial, producing, cinematography and editing debuts of former detective turned filmmaker, Thomas Marchese.

‘Fallen,’ which was narrated by Michael Chiklis, examines the statistics of US police officers who are killed in the line of duty, as well as the untold stories they leave behind. The officers’ stories are told through the eyes of their partners, families and communities, in order to provide a deeply personal look into the stories behind these statistics.

Every 53 hours in the United States, a police officer is killed in the line of duty. However, these losses go mostly unnoticed, as they’re overshadowed by the sensational and politically charged headlines of the day.

‘Fallen,’ which was filmed over a five-year period, showcases how truly dangerous the situation has become. Marchese himself almost died during production, as he was stabbed multiple times during a domestic violence call, and ended up in his own film.
