It seems that there’s always a heady science fiction movie released in October. In 2013, it was “Gravity.” In 2015, it was “The Martian.” In 2016, it was “Arrival.” And now in 2017, it’s “Blade Runner 2049.” The last three movies have Ridley Scott and Denis Villeneuve involved.
“Blade Runner 2049” is going to be a big movie, so why not see it on the big screen imaginable. Warner Bros. is releasing the new sci-fi movie in IMAX theaters, after the success of “Dunkirk,” which was also an IMAX format movie. Check out the new movie poster for the IMAX release above:
From Alcon Entertainment, Blade Runner 2049 is being directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Sicario, Prisoners). Opening October 6, 2017 the movie will be distributed by Warner Bros. in North America and Sony Pictures Releasing International in all media for all overseas territories.
The sequel is set several decades after the 1982 original, and stars Ryan Gosling together with Harrison Ford, reprising his iconic role as Rick Deckard. The film is written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, and succeeds the initial story by Fancher and David Peoples based on Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. Story details are not being revealed.
Directed by Denis Villeneuve, the new sci-fi sequel stars Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, and Jared Leto.
“Blade Runner 2049” hits theaters on October 6.
