Single: ‘Don’t Let Me Die Alone’
Sometimes the most emotionally harrowing circumstances can lead to surprisingly rewarding results. That’s certainly the case for singer-songwriter, Jude Scofield, who released his stunningly passionate debut single, the pop-soul-infused ‘Don’t Let Me Die Alone,’ earlier this month. The Australian-based multi-instrumentalist, who began working as a solo artist in his hometown of Melbourne after graduating from high school, penned the heartfelt ballad that serves as his first song after enduring a tragic heartbreak towards the end of last year.
The track, whose gripping lyrics were written by the musician with an accompaniment on the piano, and were later supported by the bass guitar and drums, has also filmed an unforgettable video that was also released this month. Scofield, who also performed all instruments, as well as produced and mixed ‘Don’t Let Me Die Alone,’ pulls enthralling influences from fellow musicians Sam Smith, Charlie Puth and Michael Buble on the expressive tune.
The video for Scofield’s initial tune begins with a passionate romantic scene on the beach, with the singer and the woman he loves sharing a tender moment. He’s then shown playing the piano, as he begins crooning about their painful breakup with his powerful and rugged vocals. As he recalls how she once said their connection was stable, he remembers that she still ultimately left him with no hope of being able to reconcile their love. The musician also asks her to forgive him if he’s done anything wrong, as his love for her is still strong.
The video for ‘Don’t Let Me Die Alone’ then wistfully contemplates the better times between the duo, as he declares that he’ll always love her. Scofield also relatably ponders the state of their relationship, both past and present, as he walks around his city. The song and its video both end on a bittersweet and nostalgic note, as the singer learns from his experiences, and tries to move on from the breakup.
