Audiences can relive the terror that descanted upon them in deep space during the summer of 1979, as Fathom Events is set to bring ‘Alien’ back to the big screen nationwide next month. The terror of director Ridley Scott‘s sci-fi-horror masterpiece is set to return to movie theaters for its 40th anniversary, courtesy of Twentieth Century Fox, as part of the TCM Big Screen Classics Series.

‘Alien’ is returning to more than 600 cinemas on Sunday, October at 1:00pm and 4:00pm (local time); Tuesday, October 15 at 7:00 pm (local time); and Wednesday, October 16 at 7:00pm (local time). Moviegoers can search for local theaters via zip code and purchase tickets at Fathom Events’ official website, or at participating cinema box offices. The screenings will include special commentary before and after the film from TCM primetime host, Ben Mankiewicz.

‘Alien’ was written by Dan O’Bannon, who worked on the story with Ronald Shusett. In the drama, Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skerritt, Harry Dean Stanton, Veronica Cartwright, John Hurt, Ian Holm and Yaphet Kotto portrayed the crew members of the Nostromo, which veers off course to explore a mysterious signal emanating from an unknown planet. When they unwittingly take an alien creature aboard the ship, they have no idea just how terrifying – and deadly – the ordeal will be.
